Novel C6-technology for fluorocarbon compounds
Recently, critical reports on PFTs (perfluorinated surfactants) have been frequently published. The best known representatives of this group are perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS*) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA*). These substances are watched because they are not degraded in the environment and, as far as toxicity is concerned, have not been thoroughly examined yet.
Although, due to their origin (telomerisation), our fluorocarbon polymers do not contain PFOS* and are PFOA*-optimised (perfluorooctanoic acid <1 ppm), they are not completely PFOA*-free. Therefore, we have further optimised our RUCOTEC range and have complemented it with new products based on the so-called C6 technology. Perfluorocarbon monomers from telomerisation with a chain length of 6 carbon atoms are used for this purpose. The fluorocarbon polymers made from C6 monomers are PFOS* and PFOA*-free.
With the new C6 product range the RUDOLF GROUP is a worldwide leader in the field of ecological stain-repellent impregnations of natural and artificial stones. To distinguish them from standard fluorocarbon polymers, the match-code of the C6-based products includes the figure 6.

Depending on the absorptive power of the background, RUCOTEC flourine impregnations are diluted with the specified solvent in a ratio of 1 : 4 to 1 : 9. Apply a uniform and rich coat of the dilution to the absorbent surface with a brush, roller or cleaning mop. After a short reaction time of ca. 10 min remove surplus material by polishing with a clean, dry cloth. The dried covering can be walked on after 6 hours.The effect of RUCOTEC impregnations has fully developed after 24 hours. |
