Yarns coated with eco-finishes

FRANKFURT – Tucked away at the rear of the Rudolf Chemie stand at last week’s Techtextil in Germany, a lab-scale yarn coating machine that uses water-based finishes and infra-red drying was being billed as a new way to produce high performance coated textiles using a minimal amount of textile chemistry. The thinking is, coated yarns can be selectively knitted or woven into specific areas of a garment.
